About Moments in Time
Described by the Montreal Mirror as an exhibition full of artworks that ranged from "contemplative and serene to exuberant and downright ecstatic", Gaetanne Lavoie's Moments in Time exhibition featured a new collection of oil paintings that beautifully captured life's unacknowledged moments through portraits. Moments in Time was Gaetanne Lavoie's first Montreal exhibition in over 2 years.
Artist Statement
"Moments in time are windows, often neglected, passed by and unacknowledged. They are a part of our very existence but are rarely realized. We have become consumed by consumerism, and in that consumption we are over stimulated by advertising, the media and the inconsequential. Our often fast paced lifestyles have led us, as humans, to neglect "the roses". Through the simplification of color and technique I hope to reconnect with the human imagination. I hope to reconnect with our moments and ultimately have people remember what it is like to sit and drink their coffee, at a coffee shop, in a porcelain cup, while enjoying a lovely, fluffy croissant for breakfast before work." - Gaetanne Lavoie
About Gaetanne Lavoie
Gaetanne Lavoie grew up in eastern Canada and attended York University in Toronto where she received her B.F.A. with Honors. Three years after graduating from York she was accepted into the Masters program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She spent the following four years studying and living there. Gaetanne is currently a Graduate of the Academy of Art University. Her degree states that she is a Master painter, but when asked whether she considers herself a Master, she shrugs and states, “I believe that being a Master of Fine Art takes a lifetime to achieve”. She is currently living in Montreal, Canada, a city she considers to be most beautiful and inspiring!
