Teenage Nudes by Dave Arnold

Presented in partnership with Switzerland CS and Bierbrier
Ran from Thursday, July 20th to Tuesday, July 25th 2009

One of The Emporium Gallery's most critically acclaimed exhibitions to date, Teenage Nudes was first highlighted in the Montreal Miror's 2009 Visual Arts Hot Summer Guide (and was the flagship image) then later described by the publication in a separate article as, "Pervy Pop Art." It made the Hour's Hit List where it was described as, "Half-innocent pre-pubescent dreams of what lies beneath ladies' clothing" and was additionally described by Nightlife Magazine as, "Comic book depravities." So, what was Teenage Nudes? Well, the Gallery described it as a new collection of Pop Art-infused paintings that depicted ubiquitous childhood iconography, corrupted and re-imagined by the artist but, if the smiles of the attendees were any indication, Teenage Nudes was an exhibition that resonated with the mischievous child in all of us.
